  • 1 can 14 oz sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 tub whipped topping like Cool Whip
  • 1 box vanilla wafers
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract optional

Instructions

  • Prepare the Pudding Base:
  • In a bowl, whisk together instant pudding mix and cold milk until it thickens.
  • Stir in the sweetened condensed milk and vanilla extract (if using). Let it set for 5 minutes.
  • Layer the Bananas and Wafers:
  • Arrange a layer of vanilla wafers at the bottom of your serving dish.
  • Top with a layer of banana slices.
  • Assemble the Pudding:
  • Gently fold the whipped topping into the pudding mixture.
  • Pour half of the pudding over the wafers and bananas.
  • Add another layer of wafers and bananas, then top with the remaining pudding.
  • Chill and Serve:
  • Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
  • Garnish with extra banana slices and wafers before serving.

Notes

  • Banana Ripeness: Use just-ripe bananas for the best flavor and texture.
  • Prevent Browning: A splash of lemon juice on banana slices helps prevent browning.
  • Substitutions: Graham crackers or shortbread cookies work well in place of vanilla wafers.
  • Healthier Options: Use sugar-free pudding mix and light whipped topping for a lighter version.
  • Storage: Keep in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • Make-Ahead Tip: Assemble the day before serving to let the flavors meld beautifully.
Enjoy this easy banana pudding recipe, perfect for gatherings or as a comforting dessert any time!
